:: Notam Map :: Launch ::
The application is launched using Java Web Start.
This is a mechanism by which a Java application can be downloaded,
installed and run seamlessly from a couple of mouse clicks on a web browser.
It should be possible to run it on any platform that supports the Java environment
but does require a version 1.5.0 or later of the Java J2SE Runtime Environment.
If a suitable version is not already installed on your then you can download the
latest from http://www.java.com/.
With the Java J2SE Runtime Environment installed you can click on the icon below to
download and run Notam Map:
Once the program is installed on the desk top it can be run offline although
it will attempt to connect back to the host to see if a later version of
the software is available. If it can connect and there is a new version
then this will be downloaded, installed and run instead.
:: Trouble Shooting ::
If the application does not launch as expected then the most likely reason is that
your browser is not recognising the launch file for what it is and this might require a bit of
manual intervention. Whatever browser you are using the important thing is to ensure
that it recognises that files ending in .jnlp
and returning a MIME type of x-java-jnlp-file
are associated with the Java Web Start program javaws.
This can usually be found in the bin directory of the Java Runtime installation.
